June 13, 2026 | Rosemont, Illinois
This educational activity is designed to provide orthopaedic surgeons with an individualized, evidence-informed, and skills-focused experience in advanced shoulder surgery. The course integrates pre-course didactic modules with in-person expert instruction and extensive hands-on bio-skills training, enabling participants to acquire, reinforce, and apply technical knowledge and procedural decision-making strategies relevant to contemporary shoulder practice.
Participants engage with a comprehensive pre-course curriculum addressing key topics such as principles of SLAP and instability repair, capsular management, rotator cuff repair options, tendon transfers, biologic augmentation, bone loss management, and approaches to irreparable pathology. These modules, developed and delivered by recognized leaders in shoulder surgery, ensure that learners arrive with baseline knowledge aligned to current best practices.
During the live activity, participants receive focused instruction through Technical Pearls sessions, non-CME surgical demonstrations, and a case-based panel discussion. The core learning experience includes two extended hands-on E.L.I.T.E. lab sessions in which participants select from a range of advanced arthroscopic and open shoulder procedures, allowing for an individualized training plan based on each learner’s goals and practice needs. Faculty provide direct observation, guidance, and feedback to support skill acquisition and refinement.
The design of this activity supports improved competence and performance by enabling learners to:
- Strengthen understanding of indications, technical principles, and decision-making for advanced shoulder procedures.
- Demonstrate procedural skills in a controlled, supervised environment using contemporary instruments, implants, and techniques.
- Apply case-based reasoning to complex shoulder pathology, including instability patterns, rotator cuff tear types, bone loss, and irreparable or revision scenarios.
*Availability is limited based on equipment and faculty. Registrations submitted within two weeks of the start date cannot guarantee that the chosen procedures will be accommodated.
