Expand Your Expertise with Ultrasound in Orthopaedics
Join us for an in-depth overview of ultrasound use in multiple joints, including shoulder, elbow, hip and knee. Enhance your practice with hands-on experience and technical overviews during the May 8 session, which also serves as a pre-requisite for the Ultrasound Competency Validation on May 10. During the competency validation, surgeons and Physician Assistants can test their skills in targeted ultrasound assessments.

Comprehensive Ultrasound: Multiple Joint Use and Hands-On Experience

This session will introduce ultrasound use in orthopaedics with technique overview for use in shoulder, elbow, hip and knee. The benefits of adding ultrasound to your practice will also be covered. Time for hands-on use of ultrasound for upper and lower extremity will be available. This session will serve as a pre-requisite for those who would like to sign up for the Saturday Ultrasound Competency Validation session.

NEW FOR 2025! Ultrasound Competency Validation
in partnership with the Interventional Orthobiologics Foundation (IOF)

Orthopaedic Surgeons and Physician Assistants can now sign up for Ultrasound Competency Validation Testing, where you will be assessed on your ability to perform ultrasound safely and efficiently. The testing will evaluate candidates on their ability to hit a needle target for up to five structures within the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee. Candidates may limit the body region based on sub-specialty (e.g., shoulder).

Space is limited and testing is available in 20-minute timeslots.

Pre-requisite: attendance at a prior educational activity, such as AANA’s May 8 Comprehensive Ultrasound session or any formal MSK ultrasound training.

Price: $1,500 add-on; also available for nonregistrants.
