1306 - Advanced Foot and Ankle Arthroscopy

Enhance your surgical competency while expanding your indications for arthroscopic and tendoscopic treatments when you attend the AANA Advanced Foot and Ankle Arthroscopy Lab Course. This two-day skills-based experience includes ample amounts of time in the cadaver lab coupled with informative, interactive lectures, featuring a discussion on the role of biologics. World-class instructors will guide participants on the pearls and pitfalls of many of the procedures that will be demonstrated.

Participants can then practice their skill set in the spacious, state-of-the-art cadaveric lab utilizing the latest equipment that’s currently available. Look forward to practicing anterior and posterior arthroscopy to address osteochondral lesions, os trigonum, flexor hallucis longus (FHL) tenosynovitis and more.

Additional procedures that will be covered during the course include:

  • Subtalar arthroscopy for chondral injuries
  • Subtalar arthroscopic fusions
  • First metatarsophalangeal (MTP) tenosynovectomy/cheilectomy
  • Achilles tendoscopy
  • Plantaris release
  • Gastrocnemius release
  • Peroneal tendoscopy/groove deepening
  • Ligament reconstruction
  • In-office needle arthroscopy
  • And many more!

By the course’s conclusion, participants will gain the knowledge and tools necessary to be at the forefront of foot and ankle arthroscopic treatment strategies.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course the participant will be able to:

  1. Develop and improve competence by practicing foot and ankle surgical techniques on cadavers.
  2. Identify and apply cutting-edge techniques for minimally invasive surgical procedures as they pertain to foot and ankle pathology, to advance knowledge of current treatments and alternatives.
  3. Highlight the efficacy of procedures by using evidence-based medicine to support treatment options.

The primary target audience for Advanced Foot and Ankle Arthroscopy Course is AANA members and other healthcare professionals who desire to improve their arthroscopic knowledge, competence, performance, and patient outcomes.

AANA has determined the need for this live educational activity based on identifying professional practice gaps, previous course evaluations and the AANA Self-Assessment Examination. The educational content of this activity was based upon current issues and topics provided by AANA Planning Committees and Membership.

The Arthroscopy Association of North America is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Arthroscopy Association of North America designates this live activity for a maximum of 14 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This activity may also help fulfill the Maintenance of Certification credit requirements mandated by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Please fly into O'Hare International Airport. A shuttle to the Hampton Inn and Suites picks up every 45 minutes from the Bus/Shuttle Center. Follow the signs from baggage claim.
